Game Of The Week: Milwaukee Brewers At Seattle Mariners


The Seattle Mariners will open a weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Safeco Field. The Mariners are currently in second place in the American League West division behind the Texas Rangers ad nearly four games ahead of the Houston Astros. THe Brewers arein fourth place in the National League West division,twenty-four games behind the Chicago Cubs,

LHP Brent Suter will make his Major League debut on Friday night against the Mariners. The twenty-six year old was drafted in the 31st Round of the 2012 MLB Draft while playing at Harvard. He has spent the 2016 season with the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox where he has a 6-6 record with a 3.50 ERA in fifteen starts-twenty six appearances.

Seattle Mariners

LHP Wade LeBlanc (4.68, 2-0) has been solid on the mound for the Mariners’ since he was acquired from the Blue Jays in June. The Mariners are 7-1 in games started by LeBlanc and have given him a solid run support to secure the win. In his career the lefty is 2-1 in fove games against the Brewers.

Ryan Braun and Chris Carter are two of the veteran “heavy hitters” on the Brewers’ squad. Braun leads the team with a .325 batting average and second-most RBIs with 65. Carter leads Milwaukee with twenty-seven homers and 66 RBIs. They aren’t the only two powers at the plate however as Jonathan Villar is hitting .297 and Scooter Gennett has a .269 batting average.

Seattle Mariners

Kyle Seager is obviously the youth of the Seattle Mariners as he has a team second-best .286 batting average and a team leading 79 RBIs. Robinson Cano is hitting a team high .294 and just behing Seager with 74 RBIs. Veteran Nelson Cruz rounds out the top of the M’s team leaders at the plate with a .284 batting average and twenty-six homers.
