A-Rod One Hit Shy Of 3000

Alex Rodriguez

Alex Rodriguez is one hit shy of 3000 for his major league career and just like his previous accomplishments this season, will this next milestone be applauded for what it is; an amazing feat to reach.

He has amassed some of the greatest offensive seasons in his career, with batting .358 in 1996, hitting 57 home runs in 2002, driving in 156 in 2007, three MVP awards (2003, ’05, ’07) 14 All-Star appearances (last in 2011), and has reached some of the greatest milestones in his 21 years in the game.

Rodriguez is currently having a season that most didn’t think was possible, given the fact that he missed a full season in the game in 2014, as he is batting .278, with 12 home runs and 34 RBI. He is also 44 runs shy of 2000 and 34 home runs shy of 700, but what seems to be more attainable and will be the next milestone, is his 3000th hit.

With everything that A-Rod has been through and also having to fix his relationship with baseball and the fans, I feel that he does deserve the same ovation that others have gotten before him.

I won’t sit here and say that I agree with his actions, the decisions he has made or how he has treated the game, but as a baseball player that has gone out this season and just played the game and stayed out of the media frenzy, I applaud him for coming back and doing what he has done most of his adult life, and that is play the game.
