ALCS Game 2 Preview: Blue Jays At Royals
- Updated: October 17, 2015
Edinson Volquez led the Kansas City Royals to a 5-0 shutout of the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 1 of the ALCS on Friday night at Kauffman Stadium and will look to extend their series lead to two games on Saturday afternoon.
The Matchup:
Blue Jays:
The Blue Jays and Marco Estrada got a bit roughed up in Game 1 and their powerful bats were quieted in a hurry so they they will look to former Cy Young Winner David Price to help they bounce back in Game 2. Although Price’s resume is filled with accolades, a postseason victory as a starter is something that is visibly missing, the lefty has a 5.23 ERA and a 0-6 record in the playoffs, and on Saturday he will be looking to change that. Price has faced the Royals twice this season when he was still a member of the Detroit Tigers. In those two starts he was 1-0 including one complete game and another outing where he allowed four runs.
Royals:
Right-hander Yordano Ventura will try and help Kansas City take a 2-0 lead in the ALCS when he takes the hill on Saturday. Ventura pitched twice in the ALDS against the Houston Astros going 0-1 allowing a combined six runs and striking out ten. Ventura has faced the Blue Jays just once this season and was able to hold them to a .222 batting average; something to note, this outing was on August 1st, just days after the acquisition of Troy Tulowitzki and he wasn’t in the lineup.
