Alex Rodriguez Hits Home Run No. 655

There may have been some doubt whether the New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez could come back after missing a full season and continue his journey to becoming the all time home run king.

Well on Thursday night he moved one step closer as he launched his 655 home run over the left field wall at Yankee Stadium. It was a no doubter and showed that A-Rod is not done yet.

Rodriguez is now just five home runs away from tying Willie Mays for fourth on the all time home run list. At this point that looks to be an attainable feat. The next milestone would be tying Babe Ruth at 714 and looking at how many home runs A-Rod would need for that (54), it looks highly unlikely that he will reach it, unless he sticks around for a few more years.

Stranger things have happened in baseball, but obviously the loss of a season, really puts a damper on reaching further milestones.
