Archie Bradley Debuts Against Kershaw, Dodgers
- Updated: April 12, 2015
The Archie Bradley era in Arizona has officially begun and in a huge way. Baseball’s 25th ranked prospect (according to Baseball America) made his major league debut on Saturday against Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Bradley would record his first career win in the Diamondbacks 6-0 over Los Angeles.
With his family and friends in the ballpark to witness his greatest accomplishment to date, Bradley baffled Dodger hitters allowing just one hit in six innings of work. If that wasn’t enough, he also recorded his first major league hit in his first at-bat on the first pitch he saw off the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner. He would allow four walks but would strike out six in his debut.
Arizona would get to Kershaw early rattling off three hits and scoring one run in the first inning. It wouldn’t get any better for Kershaw as the evening went along, as he would allow six runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts in six and a third innings of work.
A.J. Pollock had a nice night at the plate going 3-for-3 with two runs an a RBI. It isn’t much of a surprise that Paul Goldschmidt would get in on the action recording three RBI bringing his season total to six, including a two-run home run in the seventh inning off Kershaw which ended his night.
Joc Pederson had a miserable night at the plate for the Dodgers striking out all three times he was at the plate.
Bradley is scheduled to make his next start on Thursday April 16th against the San Francisco Giants. I suppose it should be known that he will be up against Madison Bumgarner.
