Randy Fontanez II was born on May 18, 1989, in Orlando, Florida to parents Randy and Wilma Fontanez. As an only child to hardworking parents, he spent a lot of his childhood being raised by his Abuelito and Abuelita, better known as “Ito and Ita”. The time spent with Ito and Ita was his intro to his Puerto Rican heritage from the food, music and true pride of such a proud ethnicity. Part of his culture helped to grow a love for the game of baseball.
Baseball changed his life as he was blessed to receive a full ride scholarship to the University of South Florida. He was drafted in 2010 by the Cincinnati Reds, but decided to return to college and finish his education. In 2011, the New York Mets drafted Randy to start his pro career. He might have fallen short of making it to the majors, but he did play as high as Triple-A, while also representing Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic and winning a silver medal in 2013. Randy’s competitive mindset on the field has taken him to the Real Estate market as he earned his license and works for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in his hometown. Randy and his beautiful fiancé Sarah will be married in October 2017.
