Manny Banuelos has had an interesting professional baseball career. He first caught the eye of teams when he was working his way through the New York Yankees’ Organization but has battled injuries throughout his young career before becoming a part of the Atlanta Braves Organization.

Although he showed signs of promise in 2015, Banuelos had a rough outing against the Washington Nationals on Saturday night at Champion Stadium. In the first inning, the Nats took a the lead off a two run double by the newly acquired utility infielder Stephen Drew. The Nats added to that lead in the top of the second, first with a RBI double by Michael Taylor and then another run batted in when Drew grounded out to send home Trea Turner for a 4-0 game.

In his two innings of work, the left-handed Banuelos allowed four runs off of six hits; walking one and striking out one.

The Braves finally got on the board in the bottom of the third when Michael Bourn grounded out to send home Jace Peterson for a 4-1 ballgame.

The Nats’ Tanner Roark pitched four innings allowing the Braves’ lone run off of three hits; striking out three batters.

The Nationals’ pitching staff allowed just five hits by the Braves and struck out a combined six batters in the 11-1 victory.
