Bryce Harper’s Three Homers Lead Nationals To Victory

Bryce Harper must have thought that he was at a home run derby, because on Wednesday afternoon in Washington, he launched three home runs in three straight at bats to help pace the Washington to a 7-5 victory over the Miami Marlins.

Harper’s streak of consecutive games in which he reached base was halted on Tuesday when he went 0-4 and without walk, but on Wednesday he became the youngest player in 45 years to have three home runs in one game. He finished 3 for 4, with three runs scored and five RBI’s.

So far the Nationals outfielder is leading the team in home runs (8), RBI’s (26) and OBP% (.416) and looks to have his best overall season since made his major league debut in 2012.

Harper had been hampered by injuries in his brief major league career and it has kept him off the field for a number of games in each season (2012 – 139, 2013 – 118, 2014 – 100), but now he is healthy, playing well and ready for a breakout season.
