San Francisco Giants’ Ace Madison Bumgarner cruised to his sixteenth win of the season on Thursday afternoon as he held the Chicago Cubs to just one run in the series finale securing the 9-1 victory.

The Cubs have been on quite a roll lately and took an early one run lead in the top of the second with a RBI double by Starlin Castro to send Anthony Rizzo home.

In the bottom of the inning the Giants tied the game when Kelby Tomlinson scored with a RBI double by Juan Perez.

Bumgarner went six innings allowing the lone run and just two hits; striking out an impressive twelve of the 22 batters he faced; walking two all on 98 pitches.

The Giants increased their 5-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth when Giants’ rookie  Kelby Tomlinson hit his first Major League homerun, a Grand slam to left field on his first pitch of the at-bat off a 94mph fastball to five San Francisco the 9-1 lead.

This series loss was the first time that Chicago was on the losing end of a series against another National League team since late July against the Phillies.
