Since Byron Buxton‘s return to the diamond following an injury he suffered to his thumb on June 26th with the Twins, he has been on fire with the Twins Triple-A affiliate Rochester Red Wings.
Buxton is currently on an 11-game hitting streak and five multi-hit games in that span. He is batting .404 (19 for 47), with nine runs scored and a home run.
The solo homer came on Sunday against the Scranton Wilkes/Barre RailRaiders which helped tie the game at 2-2 in the fifth inning, before hitting a walk-off single in the bottom of the 12th to win the game 3-2. He finished the game 3 for 6, also adding two RBI’s.
Buxton made his major league debut on June 14th against the Texas Rangers and recorded his first MLB hit the following game on an exciting triple. In his short stint in the majors before his injury, he batted .189 (7 for 37).
Buxton is doing his part in earning a trip back to the majors, maybe the second time around will be a bigger success.
