CAL/CAR League All Star Game: California Defeats Carolina 9-2

The California/Carolina League All Star games was played on Tuesday in front of 4,702 fans at LoanMart Field, home of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and watched California score early and pull away with a 9-2 victory over the Carolina stars.
The Carolina all stars took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first when Wilmington Blue Rocks third baseman Ramon Torres, who hit a one-out single, scored from third on a wild pitch by Visalia Rawhide right hander Zack Godley.
The California all stars tied the game in the bottom of the second when High Desert Mavericks catcher Alex Burg doubled and scored after a double play.
In the third, California added two more runs to take a 3-1 lead on a sac fly off the bat of Lancaster JetHawks outfielder Brett Phillips scoring Modesto Nuts third baseman Ryan McMahon and an RBI double by Rancho Cucamonga Quakes first baseman Cody Bellinger, scoring fellow Quakes teammate, third baseman Brandon Trinkwon.
California added six more runs to their with three each in the fourth and sixth innings, highlighted by RBI singles from Trinkwon and Phillips in the fourth and RBI singles by Trinkwon and Mavericks outfielder Ryan Cordell in the sixth.
Rawhide right hander John Omahen was given the victory after tossing an inning and striking out a batter and Potomac Nationals righty Nick Pivetta took the loss after giving up two runs on two hits, with two walks in one inning.
