- Updated: June 1, 2015

The Taveras family joins the Cardinals to remember their beloved Oscar.
On Sunday the St. Louis Cardinals took a moment before the game to honor an remember Oscar Taveras, their top rookie prospect, who was killed in an automobile accident on October 26, 2014, in his home country of the Dominican Republic.
The tragic accident happened just two weeks after the promising rookie hit a game tying pinch hit home run against the San Francisco Giants, in Game two of the National League Championship Series.
The Cardinals invited the Taveras family, which included his mother, father and three brothers for a heartfelt ceremony and also handed them a keepsake of his many accomplishments from his time with the Cardinals organization.
A classy organization takes care of one of their own.
