It didn’t take long for Yoenis Cespedes to showcase his monster skills with the New York Mets as he hit three doubles, drove in four runs, and scored two of his own in Monday’s lopsided 12-1 victory over the Marlins in Miami.

The offensive explosion came just a day after the Mets swept the Nationals to tie Washington for a share of first place in the NL East.

Cespedes arrived in New York with a big bat and a presence that can ignite a team to play winning baseball.

On Monday the Mets continued their winning ways and the Cuban native was in the middle of the rout as he finished 3 for 5, with two runs scored and four RBI’s.  But Cespedes was not the only Met with a big night as Curtis Granderson (3 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBIs, BB), Travis d’Arnaud (2 for 5, R, 2 Doubles), and Michael Conforto (2 for 4, 3 R, HR, 3 RBIs) also enjoyed monster nights.

This is something that Mets fans can get used to, especially with having lost David Wright for most of the season and now a team that believes that they can win the division.

After the Nationals dropped their game on Monday to the Diamondbacks 6-4, the Mets now find themselves all alone in first place.

Winning baseball is back in Queens and Cespedes is in the middle of it all.
