The New York Yankees were unable to get any runs on the board Thursday night as they were shutout by Dallas Keuchel and the Houston Astros 4-0.

On Friday night, the theme seemed to be the same as the Yankees were down 2-0 against the Astros. Houston scored their first run in the bottom of the third when top shortstop prospect Carlos Correa knocked in a RBI single on a line drive to center to send home Hank Conger.

Houston would strike again in the bottom of the sixth when Jose Altuve scored off a single by Evan Gattis.

Nathan Eovaldi (ERA 4.81) had the start for the Yankees, pitching six innings allowing two runs off of five hits; striking out six batters.

In the top of the 7th however, New York took a 3-2 lead with a three run homer by Chris Young, his ninth of the season, on a line drive to left center field off of the Astros’ Will Harris.

Dellin Betances (ERA 1.21) then closed out the eighth and the ninth with no hits allowed; striking out two and securing his fifth save of the season.

Astros’ starting pitcher Vincent Velasquez (ERA 3.72) pitched six and a third innings, allowing two runs on five hits, before being pulled before Young’s at-bat. Harris was charged with the blown save and the loss for Houston (4-1, BS,2).

Nathan Eovaldi earned the win for the Yankees (7-2).

Up Next:

The third game of the series between the Yankees and the Astros at Minute Maid Park will take place on Saturday at 4:10pm with RHP Masahiro Tanaka (3.17, 4-3) taking the start for New York against LHP Brett Oberholtzer (2.81, 2-1)

for Houston.
