Cubs Stay Hot With Four Game Sweep Of Giants
- Updated: August 10, 2015
The Chicago Cubs trail the St. Louis Cardinals by 8.5 games, but their recent play have them primed for a playoff appearence as they are in control of one of the Wild Card positions, while the Pirates control the other.
On Sunday the Cubs completed their four-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants with a 2-0 shutout.
Cuba Jake Arrieta won his 13th game of the season, while Hector Rondon saved his 19th game.
The Cubs scored their two runs in the first two innings on RBI hits from Kris Bryant and Addison Russell. That is all the run support Arrieta would need, as he shut down the Giants offense by tossing 7.2 innings, allowing just four hits, while walking two and striking out six.
