Dodgers Top Prospect Corey Seager Swinging A Hot Bat


The Los Angeles Dodgers top prospect Corey Seager, has been on fire since he stepped into the batters box on Opening Day for the Tulsa Drillers.

On Tuesday, the 20-year old shortstop, lead off the bottom of the fourth with a line drive home run over the right center field fence for his first homer on the season to help the Drillers pull out a 2-1 victory over the Corpus Christi Hooks. Seager would add two singles and another RBI, to finish 3 for 4 on the night.

The power hitting shortstop showed that he is capable of handling Double-A pitching when he spent time in 2014 with the Chattanooga Lookouts (Former Dodgers Affiliate) and batted .345, with 16 doubles, three triple, two home runs and 27 RBI’s in 148 at bats.

So far this season, the 6’4″ top prospect, is having a great start to 2015 and in the past week, Seager has five multi-hit games (four straight), including going 4 for 4 (all singles) on Monday night. Currently he has 14 hits in 24 at bats, and is batting .583, which leads all Double-A hitters.

As for the game, Tulsa evened their record at 3-3 and handed the first place Hooks (5-1) their first loss, as Drillers starter Chris Anderson (2-0, 1.64), tossed six shutout innings, giving up two hits, walking two and striking out seven.
