The Los Angeles Dodgers left handed pitching prospect, Julio Urias, will undergo cosmetic surgery on May 28 to his left eye and is expected to miss a month of baseball.
MiLB.com reports that Urias will have a periorbital benign mass removed, and has had three prior operations on his left eye.
The 18-year old Mexican native is currently with Double-A Tulsa Drillers and so far he is 1-2, with a 3.00 ERA, nine walks, and 46 strike outs in 36 innings.
If you look at Urias’ left eye, it appears to be almost shut, but during the spring, he told the L.A. Times that he can see fine with it.
It’s amazing what he has been able to do so far, but after the procedure, the young pitching prospect will be given an opportunity to be better than he has been.
We wish Julio Urias’ well in his procedure and a quick recovery.
