Double-A: Powell’s Hot Bat Lead’s Biscuits to 3rd Straight Win
- Updated: June 12, 2015
The Montgomery Biscuits lead-off hitter, Boog Powell, has been swinging a hot bat lately, hitting .425 (17 for 40) and 12 runs in his last 10 games.
The Biscuits entered the game on a two game winning streak and just a game under .500 at 29-30, but Powell’s bat has been scorching hot and it helped propel the offense to another victory, evening their season record at 30-30. Montgomery is also tied for third and trails the first place Chattanooga Lookouts by 5.5 games.
Powell currently has a 6-game hitting streak, with five multi-hit games in that span and has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games.
In Thursday’s 6-1 victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, he had two hits for the fourth straight game.
Powell leads the Southern League with 71 hits, second with a .338 batting average and six triples, and fourth with a .419 OBP and 40 runs.
A promising outfielder in the Tampa Rays organization.
