Former Teammates Square Off Wednesday In Detroit

The Detroit Tigers got off to a hot start to the 2015 season when David Price pitched a gem on Opening Day which led to a 4-0 Detroit win over the division rival Minnesota Twins. Price’s 8 2/3 innings performance of just five hits allowed while striking out five has set the bar high for the Tigers’ pitching staff.

Wednesday afternoon the Tigers and Twins will be back at it again at Comerica Park pitting former Miami Marlins’ teammates Anibal Sanchez (Tigers) and Ricky Nolasco (Twins) against each other.

Sanchez who was seen as the number three starter in Spring Training has been bumped up to the number two spot while Justin Verlander is on the DL. Sanchez went 8-5 in 21 starts while recording a 3.43 ERA last season while undergoing two different injuries. Nolasco is hoping to improve on a lackluster 2014 season and bounce back in 2015. He was moved up into the number two spot for the Marlins after the suspension of Ervin Santana.

Key players to look for in the Tigers/ Twins matchup on Wednesday will be Ian Kinsler, Alex Avila and Yoenis Cespedes, who all had solid performances in the series opener. And, let’s not forget that guy Miguel Cabrera.
