The former Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Pedro Alvarez has agreed to join the Baltimore Orioles after signing a 1-year contract worth $5.75 million with $1.5 million in incentives. The club has yet to confirm, even though multiple media outlets are reporting the deal.
The Dominican native became a free agent in December after spending the first six years of his career with the Pirates. In 2015, Alvarez batted .243, with 27 home runs, and 77 RBI’s in 150 games.
Alvarez enjoyed a career year in 2013, when he became an all-star and finished the season launching 36 home runs and driving in 100 RBI’s.
