FSL Game of the Week: Charlotte Outslugs Dunedin 13-12 In 10 Innings

In the second game of their four-game series, the Charlotte Stone Crabs outslugged the Dunedin Blue Jays 13-12, walking off with two runs in the bottom of the 10th.

The see-saw event saw the Stone Crabs rally back from a 8-3 deficit, only to give it back to the Blue Jays as Dunedin led 12-11 in the top of the 10th. But the Stone Crabs had one fight left in them and they made it count.

Both teams remained scoreless until the top of the second when the Blue Jays scored four runs, highlighted by  an RBI double from D.J. Davis and a three-run bomb from Cavan Biggio.

The Stone Crabs pulled within two in the bottom of the frame on a two-run shot from Alec Sole.

In the top of the fourth, the Blue Jays struck back with another 4-run frame with key hit from Bo Bichette (2-Run Double), with the other two runs scoring on a ground out and single.

The Stone Crabs scored a run in the bottom of the fourth and then five more in the bottom of the fifth tie the game at 8-8. Brett Sullivan and Ryan Boldt hit a run scoring doubles, Alec Sole added an RBI triple and Lucius Fox a sac-fly scoring the fifth run of the innings.

The back and forth continued into the sixth inning as Dunedin took a 9-8 lead when Darrell Ceciliani, who is on rehab assignment, scored ahead of a fielding error. Ceciliani hit a on-out double to get into scoring position.

Then Charlotte took their first lead when they added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to go up 11-9.  They rallied with two outs, scoring on a single from Boldt and Fox.

The Blue Jays would add a run in the seventh and eighth innings to tie the game, sending it to extras.

In the top of the 10th, with the bases loaded, D.J. Davis hit a sac-fly to left field scoring Connor Panas to give the Jays a lead again at 12-11.

But the Stone Crabs would not be denied a victory, as they tied the game when Angel Moreno drove in Thomas Milone with a ground out and then Brandon Lowe sent his teammates home happy with a line drive double (33) to left field scoring Peter Maris with the winning run.

With the victory the Stone Crabs improved to 17-15 (48-52 overall) and with the loss the Jays drop to 18-15 (52-50 overall).
