FSL: Tampa Yankees Solak Leads Hitting Attack to Win First Half North Division Title

The Tampa Yankees entered Wednesday game against the Florida Fire Frogs needing either a victory to clinch the First Half Title in the North Division, or a loss by the Clearwater Threshers. The win was a better fitting, as they out-hit Florida 16-6, en route to a 13-4 victory.

All but one starter had at least one hit in the lineup, as Tampa scored 10 runs in the first two innings, ultimately securing another Division Title.

The Fire Frogs took an early 1-0 lead in the 1st inning, when Anfernee Seymour scored on a fielding error by Yankees shortstop Jorge Mateo.

In the bottom of the frame the Yankees scored six runs, highlighted by a bases loaded double by Jhalan Jackson, scoring all three runs.

In the next inning, four more Tampa runners would cross the plate on a Nick Solak double and singles by Gosuke Katoh and Sharif Othman.

The Fire Frogs tried to work their way back in the game with three runs in the top of the 4th bridging the gap to six runs, on a two-RBI triple from Alay Lago and a ground out RBI from Ray-Patrick Didder scoring Lago to pull within 10-4.

But that is how close Florida would get as the Yankees tacked on a run in the bottom of the 4th and two more in the seventh to pull away to a 13-4 Division Clinching victory.

Congrats to the Tampa Yankees on your First Half Division Title.
