Game of the Week: Cubs Review

GOW1

The Cubs start their first season under new manager Joe Maddon on Sunday April 5th against the St. Louis Cardinals with the hope that he can take the organization to places they have not been in a very long time. The first on the agenda is a playoff appearance.

The last time the Cubs finished in first place was during the 2007 and 2008 seasons, but since then, they have been in a decline and have been towards the bottom of their division for the past five seasons.

But Theo Epstein has made moves this off-season to change the bad karma surrounding the organization that is hoping to finally win their first World Championship in over 107 years, which is the longest in baseball history.

The Cubs fans deserve a winner and the team is being built to be one for many years to come. That is evident in the talent pool in their minor league farm system led by top prospect Kris Bryant, who this spring being being sent back to minors camp, put on a show by launching nine home runs and batting a combined .454 in 14 games. He was so good that there were calls for him to break camp with the team. But the Cubs are preaching patience with the young phenom with the hopes that he is a superstar in the very near future.

Cubs Prediction

With all the additions this off season, the Cubs ownership has given the team a great opportunity to finally climb out of the cellar and compete for a playoff spot, but other teams have also improved so it may be a tough season to climb all the way to the top, but the Cubs are on the right track. Their future looks very bright especially as soon as Top Prospect Kris Bryant arrives for good to the majors. Anything can happen in a baseball season, and the Cubs can go from worse to first in one year, but they are at least one season away from taking the baseball world by storm.
