Game Of The Week: Reds 5, Marlins 2


The Cincinnati Reds and the Miami Marlins played the rubber match of their three game series with the Reds pulling away from an early 2-2 tie to win the game 5-2.

The Marlins scored the first run of the game in the top of the first on an RBI ground out by Giancarlo Stanton scroing Dee Gordon to take a 1-0 lead.

The Reds answered right back with two runs in the bottom half of the first to take a 2-1 lead on Todd Frazier hit his 23rd home run on the season, a two-run shot.

In the second, the Marlins tied the game at 2-2, when Justin Bour hit his sixth home run on the season.

But the Reds went yard again in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead on the 11th dinger on the season off the bat of Jay Bruce, a two run shot and an RBI single by pitcher Michael Lorenzen to put the Reds up for good 5-2.

What’s Next

The Reds and the Marlins are both off on Monday, and will be back ion action on Tuesday with the Reds traveling to Pittsburgh to facing the Pirates and the Marlins hosting the St. Louis Cardinals in Miami.
