Game of the Week: Astros vs. A’s Preview

The Oakland A’s will be hosting the Houston Astros in the series finale at the Coliseum on Sunday afternoon. The Astros are looking to get the win and earn the series sweep as they send rookie RHP Asher Wojciechowski (0-1, 6.oo) to the mound against lefty Drew Pomeranz (1-2, 4.24).
Pomeranz, who is in his second season with the A’s is looking to find some momentum in this his fourth start of the season. The 26 year old had a stellar first start of the season as he went seven scoreless inning, striking out six and gaining the win. In his last two outings however, he hasn’t gone more than five innings with two consecutive losses.
Wojciechowski on the other hand will be making his fourth career start on Sunday. The 26 year old has not gone more than four innings in his last three outings with the Astros since April 9.
In the first game of the series on Friday night the Astros and the A’s went 11 innings after Scott Kazmir tossed seven scoreless frames for Oakland and Dallas Keuchel went nine scoreless forcing extra innings with a 0-0 ballgame. After tying the game at two in the tenth, it was back to back RBI singles by Robbie Grossman and George Springer that put the Astros up 5-4 over the A’s.
On Saturday night the Astros put up a more dominant performance over the A’s, which included a three run homer by Jose Altuve in the top of the second and a solo home run by George Springer in the ninth for a final score of 9-3.
