Game Of The Week: Rangers’ Joey Gallo Homers Twice In RoundRock Loss


Texas Rangers’ top prospect Joey Gallo had two homers on Friday night as the Triple-A Round Rock Express fell to Omaha 10-3. He went 2 for 3 on the night with two runs scored.

The twenty-one year old Las Vegas Nevada native made his Major League Debut on June 2nd with the Texas Rangers when third baseman Adrian Beltre was put on the disabled list. Before his promotion he was playing with Double-A Frisco.  In twenty-five games with the Rangers he hit .218, hitting five homeruns and thirteen RBIs.

After the return of outfielder Josh Hamilton, was optioned back to the Minor Leagues and has been with the Round Rock Express as of late.

His 2015 combined batting average is .262 along with twenty one homers and sixty RBIs and three stolen bases.

Gallo was drafted in the first round of the 2012 MLB Draft, thirty-ninth overall while playing at Bishop Gorman High School.
