Giants Chris Heston Records First No-Hitter Of 2015

The San Francisco Giants starter Chris Heston pitched his first career no-hitter and it came against the New York Mets on Tuesday at Citi Field.

This was also the first No-No of the season and the first by a rookie since the 2007 season when Boston’s Clay Buchholz threw one in his second career major league start.

Heston came into the game having lost his previous start only lasting 3.2 innings and giving up five runs on seven hits.  But on Tuesday night in Queens, the rookie right-hander was running on all cylinders as he shut down the Mets offense on 110 pitches, with 72 strikes and only 38 balls.

Heston did not walk a batter, but he did hit three batters, which prevented him from pitching a perfect game. He also finished the game with 11 strikeouts, as the Giants defeated the Mets 5-0 to remain .5 game behind the first place Dodgers.

Congrats to Heston on his tremendous game.
