Giants Dealt Major Blow, Pence Out 6-8 Weeks
- Updated: March 6, 2015
The San Francsico Giants Hunter Pence will miss 6-8 weeks of action after getting hit by a pitch to his left forearm on Thursday by Chicago Cubs reliever Corey Black. Pence suffered a non-disclosed fracture of the ulna bone in his left forearm.
The all-star right fielder has been as durable as they come, as he led the major leagues each of the last two seasons by appearing in all 162 games. Pence was a big part of the Giants World Championship season, as he batted .277, with 20 home runs and 74 RBI’s during the regular season and in the World Series he batted .444 (12 for 27), with three doubles, a home run and five RBI’s.
The Giants signing of Nori Aoki plays a huge part now with Pence out, but with it being early in spring training, the Giants should be able to see their right fielder back in action by May.
