Right-hander Jose Fernandez hit a homerun in his first start back last week from Tommy John Surgery and on Thursday night led the Miami Marlins to a 2-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds as he earned his fourteenth win at Marlins Park in his young career.

Fernandez (2-0, 2.08) pitched seven shutout innings allowing just six hits and striking out a stellar nine batters on 94 pitches.

RHP Carter Capps (ERA 1.48) pitched a scoreless eighth inning, earning the hold and RHP A.J. Ramos (ERA 1.13) earned his fourteenth save of the season with a one hit ninth inning, striking out one batter.

The Marlins took a one run lead in the bottom of the first when Justin Bour hit his sixth double of the season on a sharp fly ball to center field.

In the bottom of the fifth Adeiny Hechavarria grounded into a forced out that would allow Dee Gordon to score and make it a two run lead.
