For the first time in their 46 year history, the San Diego Padres now have a player that has hit for the cycle. On Friday, Matt Kemp made history against the Colorado Rockies when he tripled in the ninth inning to complete the cycle placing him in the record books.
Kemp hit his 13th home run, a two-run shot, in the first inning to put San Diego up 2-0. In his second at bat, he singled on a line drive to center field. In the fifth, Kemp grounded out to shortstop, still leaving him with at least two at bats to reach the feat. In the seventh inning, Kemp hit an RBI double putting him in a grand position to reach history as he did with his triple in the ninth.
In a season that was promised to have a possible play-off run, there is still some joy in what Kemp has accomplished.
Congrats to making the record books.
