22. J.P. Crawford, SS

Team: Phillies

Age: 20

Height: 6’2

Weight: 180

Bats/Throws: Left/Right

Crawford split 2014 between the Sally League (Low-A) and the Florida State League (High-A) and showed great results in each league despite being slightly young for both. In 123 games total, the former 16th overall pick in 2013, hit .285 with a .375 OBP. He also managed 11 home runs, 23 doubles and 24 stolen bases.

The California native shows elite athleticism coupled with great baseball instincts, which makes for a tremendous shortstop prospect. Offensively, Crawford solid hitter with an excellent approach at the plate, leading to hard contact and the ability to get himself on base at a high clip. Those tools paired with his speed make him an excellent lead-off candidate at the highest level. His glove is nearly major league ready today, using his speed and athleticism to get to the ball.

Outlook: Crawford has all the makings of an all-star level shortstop and lead-off hitter.

Risk: High. Exposure to upper levels needed. Physical maturity needed to help tools play at ML caliber.
