Legends On Decks’ Top 25 Prospects: No.’s 7-2

5. Francisco Lindor, SS

Team: Indians

Age: 21

Height: 5’11

Weight: 175

Bats/Throws: Both/Right

Lindor continued to rise up prospect rankings in 2014, producing offensively more quickly than most people originally thought he would. In all, he hit .276 in 2014 with a .338 OBP in 126 games playing most in AA with 38 coming at AAA. He also drove 16 doubles and smacked 11 home runs with 28 stolen bases on the season.

Offensively, Lindor is a very good contact hitter that has shown surprising pop. His approach at the plate is solid, but he won’t draw a ton of walks possibly due to his knack for making contact. His carrying tool, however, will be his defense. He’s possibly the best defensive shortstop in the minors, making both the routine and spectacular plays. On the basepaths he has just average speed, but shows good instincts, allowing him to swipe his share of bases.

Outlook: Lindor would be a major league shortshop based solely on his defensive prowess, but his hit tool has far exceeded expectations and has the ability to be plus.

Risk: Low. Glove will play at major league level even if his bat doesn’t improve.

ETA: 2015
