The St. Louis Cardinals drafted Darren Seferina in the fifth round of the 2014 June MLB draft out of Miami Dade Community College.

That summer Seferina played in Short Season A-Ball and batted .294, with eight doubles, three triples, and 20 stolen bases in 51 games.

In 2015, he was promoted to Class-A Full season and in 107 games he batted .295, with 26 doubles, 12 triples, four home runs and 23 stolen bases. Last season he was moved up to the Florida State League (Class-A Advanced) to play with teh Palm Beach Cardinals and his numbers took a bit of a tumble as he batted just .247, with seven doubles, five triples, one home run and 32 stolen bases in 70 games.

This season with Palm Beach, the Willemstad, Curacao native has made the needed adjustments and is enjoying a season where his numbers are peaking in the right direction.  He is currently batting .282, with 10 doubles, eight triples, two home runs, 26 RBI and nine stolen bases.

Over the past week from June 26-July 2, Seferina is batting .526 (10 for 19), with five runs scored, two doubles, a triple, home run, four RBIs, seven walks and four stolen bases. He currently has a six game hitting streak and has hit safely in nine of his last ten games, batting .438 in that span.

Congratulations to Darren Seferina for being named LOD’s Florida State League Player of the Week for June 26-July 2.
