This is the day that Mets fans have been waiting for and finally it has returned, Harvey Day!

On Friday, Matt Harvey took the mound for the first time in nearly 18 months, and he lived up to the hype. In his first start since undergoing elbow surgery, Harvey tossed two perfect innings, retiring all six batters he faced, with three strikeouts.  He even hit the gun with his fastball as high as 99 MPH.

“I feel like I never left,” Harvey tells MLB.com. “I could tell the ball was coming out good. I think I let a few go, but for the most part I was really trying to stay loose and hit my spots, and I felt pretty confident with that.”

In Harvey’s last season on the mound in 2013, he went 9-5, with a 2.27 ERA in 26 starts, before the injury ended his season. Now a new chapter begins.
