In 2011, the New York Mets drafted Chasen Bradford in the 35th Round of the June MLB draft out of the University of Central Florida. Not only did the Mets get a good young pitcher, but they also received a humble young man who understood that only hard work and determination will allow dreams to be attainable, and of course a little bit of help from the man upstairs.

That summer, Bradford was sent to the Kingsport Mets (Rookie) to start his pro career and in 21 games, he was 0-0, with a 3.51 ERA  and 37 strikeouts in 33.1 innings.

The following summer, Bradford jumped to Class-A Full Season Savannah Sand Gnats and was 4-5, with a 2.47 ERA, with three saves, and 41 strikeouts in 51 innings.

In 2013, the Las Vegas native split time between Class-A Advanced St. Lucie Mets and Double-A Binghamton Mets. In 30 games in St. Lucie, the 6’1″ right hander posted a 6-2 record, with a 3.71 ERA, three saves, and 43 strikeouts in 43.2 innings. Then he was promoted to Binghamton and in 20 games, he was 3-1, with a 0.71 ERA, a save and 18 strikeouts in 25.1 innings.

In 2014, Bradford started the season with the BMets and in 23 games he was 1-2, with a 2.03 ERA, 11 saves in 12 chances and struck out 25 batters in 26.2 innings. Then on June 9th, Bradford was sent to the Mets Triple-A affiliate the Las Vegas 51’s and appeared in 34 games, saving five, and striking out 41 batters in 46 innings.

In 2015, after experiencing his first big league camp, Bradford went back to working on his trade and just waiting for the day that he would finally reach the highest plateau in the game, The Show.

From 2014 to this season, Bradford is 14-10, with a 4.22 ERA, 45 saves and 330 strikeouts in 387 innings, while with the 51’s. He has been invited to big league camp from 2015-2017 and has performed well enough to have been considered an option for the bullpen.  But issues out of his control kept him waiting in Triple-A.

On June 22, 2017, after 303 minor league games, spanning seven seasons, Chasen Bradford has finally received the call so many of his teammates and counterparts have been waiting to hear, ‘Your Going To The Show’.

Now Bradford is about to embark on the next step of his journey and no matter where it takes him, you can be sure that this humble young man will be doing his part to make all Mets fans proud.

Congratulations not only to a great young ball player who deserves this opportunity, but an even better friend. Go get ’em Chase.
