Midwest All-Star Game: East Beats West 5-0

The 2015 Midwest All-Star game was played in front of 5,856 fans at Dozer Park, the home of the Peoria Chiefs as the East division had too much offense defeating the West 5-0.

The East jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Lansing Lugnuts infielder Ryan McBroom hit an RBI single scoring Burlington Bees outfielder Caleb Adams.

In the top of the fourth the East would strike again when the South Bend Cubs outfielder Charcer Burks grounded out scoring Lugnuts first baseman Rowdy Tellez to put the East up 2-0.

The East shut down the West’s offense allowing just three hits in the first three innings and then nothing more the rest of the way.

In the top of the ninth, the East added to their lead scoring three more runs on an RBI ground out off the bat of Bowling Green Hot Rods second baseman Grant Kay, scoring Fort Wayne TinCaps outfielder Nick Torres. Then Great Lakes Loons third baseman Mike Ahmed hit a two run single scoring the HotRods catcher Nick Ciuffo and Lugnuts shortstop Richard Urena to extend the score to 5-0.

South Bend Cubs starter Jeremy Null was given the victory tossing a scoreless inning and allowing one hit with three strikeouts. Peoria Chiefs starter Luis Perdomo took the loss after tossing one inning and allowing a run on one hit, one walk and one strike out.
