Minor League Playoff’s Update – 9/21/2015



The Columbus Clippers won the International League championship after taking three out of five games from the Indianapolis Indians. Now they will face the Fresno Grizzlies, who won the Pacific League Championship by winning three out of five games against the Round Rock Express.

Both teams will now battle in a one game take all on September 22, for the right to be named the Triple A National Champions. Game to be played in El Paso, Tx at 8:05 pm.


Eastern League

The Bowie Baysox defeated the Reading Fightin Phils 7-2 on Saturday, winning the series 3-2, and capturing the Eastern League Championship.

Bowie’s Garabez Rosa was 2-5, with two runs scored, two home runs and drove in three runs. In the series he batted, .428 (9 for 21), two home runs and seven RBI’s.

Southern League

The Chattanooga Lookouts rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to force a deciding fifth game with the Biloxi Shuckers for the league title. Game scheduled for Tuesday at 7:15 pm.

Texas League

The Midland RockHounds defeated the NW Arkansas Naturals 7-0 on Friday to sweep the series 3-0 and win the Texas League title.


California League

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes took care of business by sweeping the San Jose Giants 3-0 in their best of five series to win the California League title.

Quakes Cody Bellinger was 3 for 5, with three runs scored, a home run and drove in two in the deciding game.  For the Series he batted .428 (6 for 14), with a home run and three RBI’s.

Carolina League

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans defeated the Wilmington Blue Rocks 3-2 and sweep the five game series 3-0, to win the Carolina League Championship.

In the series Victor Caratini batted .636 (7 for 11), with four RBI’s.


Midwest League

The Cedar Rapids Kernals and the West Michigan Whitecaps will play the deciding game of their best of five game series on Monday with first pitch on 7:35 pm.

South Atlantic League

The Hickory Crawdads defeated the Asheville Tourists 5-1 on Thursday to sweep the South Atlantic Championship.


Pioneer League 

The Missoula Osprey defeated the Idaho Falls Chukars 8-1 on Wednesday to win the Pioneer League title.
