MLB Player of the Week: OF Adam Jones – Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles have been a disappointment once again as they find themselves in fourth place in the American League East at 48-51. The only shining light is that they are just six games out of first and 3.5 back of a possible Wild Card spot.

Another bright spot is that Adam Jones is having another Adam Jones season in the power category. Through 92 games, the All-Star outfielder is batting .278, with 13 doubles, a triple, 19 home runs and 51 RBIs. Over his previous 11 year major league seasons, Jones has averaged 22 doubles, 20 home runs, and 67 RBIs.

To start this season, Jones hit safely in 20 of his first 23 games in April, batting .309 (29 for 94), with four doubles, four hiome runs and 11 RBIs.

In May, he only batted .228, but kept up with his power numbers hitting five home runs and driving in 15 runs.  In June, the Orioles All Star outfielder batted .267, launching four home runs and knocking in nine runs.

But July has been a big month for Jones, as he is hitting .317 through July 24th, and is riding a seven game hitting streak from July 18-24. On July 23rd, he had a 4-hit game and he followed that up with a 3-hit game on Monday. In that span he also has four home runs and has driven in 11 runs.

From July 17-23, Jones batted .419 (13 for 31), with 11 runs scored, two doubles, three home runs, and 10 RBIs.

Congrats to Adam Jones for being named Legends on Deck’s MLB Player of the Week for July 17-23.
