Nats Werth To Undergo Shoulder Surgery

Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right AC joint on Friday and is expected to miss two to three months, as reported by MLB.com on Thursday night.

Last August, Werth originally injured his shoulder during a game against the Philadelphia Phillies and after an MRI revealed just a sprain, he was able to remain off the DL and finish out the season including post season play.

Werth finished the season batting .292, with 16 home runs and 82 RBI’s, but he struggled in the post season batting, .059 (1 for 17). If Werth is not ready to go for Opening Day, the Nationals have their Top Prospect Michael Taylor, who launched 22 home runs and drove in 61 runs in 384 Triple-A at bats, just waiting for his opportunity to impact the lineup.
