The Miami Marlins have a new manager and hitting coach and both are doing a great job so far creating a winning atmosphere in the clubhouse.

From the week of May 23-29, Marcell Ozuna benefited from that sucess as he batted .535 (15 for 28), with eight runs scored, three doubles, two home runs, five RBI’s and six multi-hit games.

With one day left in the month of May, Ozuna is batting .422, with seven home runs and 17 RBI’s, which is a big improvement from April when he batted .229, with three home runs and 10 RBI’s.

From April 30 – May 16, he enjoyed a 16-game hitting streak and then on May 18th he started a new one that lasted 11 games and ended on Memorial Day.

The Dominican Republic native is in his fourth season with the Marlins, and so far is projected have a career year. In 2014, he batted .269, with 23 home runs and 85 RBI’s, and currently he is at a .339 clip, with 10 home runs and 27 RBI’s.

Manager Don Mattingly is doing a great job in his first season in Miami as the Marlins are within in striking distance of the NL East lead with with a 26-25 record and in third place just 4.5 games behind the first place Washington Nationals.

As for hitting coach Barry Bonds, he has a young team believing in their abilities and Ozuna is benefiting with a great season so far.
