The Los Angeles Dodgers, who won the most regular season games (104) in 2017, continued their dominance by defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-5 in Game One of their NLDS series on Friday night.

The scoring started in the bottom of the first inning when Justin Turner battled through a five-pitch at bat launching a 93.4 MPH four seam fastball over the left field fence for a three-run shot to quickly put the Dodgers up 3-0.

Prior to the home run, D-Backs starter Walker gave up a lead-off single to Chris Taylor and then walked Corey Seager.  After the bomb, two more hitters would reach base before an out was recorded when Cody Bellinger singled and Yasiel Puig hit a line drive double to right center, scoring Bellinger all the way from first base to extend the lead to 4-0.

The D-Backs got back in the game with a run in the top of the third off Clayton Kershaw, with a home run off the bat of A.J. Pollock. Prior to that at bat, Kershaw was mowing down the Arizona hitters striking out the first six of nine batters he faced.

In the bottom of the fourth, L.A. took a commanding 7-1 lead with three more runs, highlighted by RBI singles from Seager and Turner and an RBI groundout from Puig.

The D-Backs showed some life as they scored a run in the sixth on a solo shot from J.D. Martinez, and two more in the seventh on back to back solo jacks from Ketel Marte and Jeff Mathis to pull within 7-4.

But that is how close Arizona would get as the Dodgers added insurance runs in the eighth on an RBI triple from Seager and an RBI single from Turner.

The D-Backs did add one run in the ninth, on a ground out from Jake Lamb, but closer Kelly Jansen induced an out off the bat of David Peralta to end the game and send L.A. to a Game One victory.

Both teams are back at it again on Saturday night with the first pitch scheduled for 9:00 pm in L.A. The Dodgers will send 12-game winner Rich Hill to the mound to face off against 15-game winner Robbie Ray.
