Players Weekend Is Here, Let The Fun Begin

The title of this post will actually be an announcement during the Players Weekend from August 25-27.

Major League Baseball and MLB Players Association announced on Wednesday that the Players Weekend will be a chance for the ball players to go back in time and allow their personalities to come out with unique names on the backs of their jerseys. But these will not be ordinary jerseys, they will look like little league jerseys and also the players will have the choice of wearing unique spikes, batting gloves, wristbands, compression sleeves, catcher’s masks and bats all designed in any color they wish. Also, uniquely Designed caps and socks will also be an option.

On the right sleeve of each jersey, players will have a patch with a blank space to write the name of a person or organization that were a big part of their journey in the game. The patch will also include a new “Evolution Logo”, which will display a progression of five players increasing in size to show the journey a player goes through in their quest to become a major leaguer, from youth sports to the professional ranks.

Some of the unique names already being revealed by MLB.com are, All Rise (Aaron Judge), La Potencia (Yoenis Cespedes), Kiiiiid (Mike Trout), Corey’s Brother (Kyle Seager), Flaco Fuerte (Chris Archer), Bringer of Rain (Josh Donaldson), Boomstick (Nelson Cruz), Mr. Smile (Francisco Lindor), Mr. 305 (Yonder Alonso), just to name a few.

All around this will be a great weekend to connect with the true fans of the game, the young players that are all living the dream of hoping for the day to also reach the highest level in the game.

Major League Baseball and the Players Union have hit a home run with this upcoming event. I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
