Padres Land Myers From Rays

On Wednesday night it was reported on MLB.com that the Padres, Rays and Nationals were involved in a blockbuster trade, involving 11 players. The Padres got the big bat they needed to help bolster their weak lineup by landing Rays’ 24 -year old outfielder, Wil Myers.

The remaining players in the deal include the Padres getting catcher Ryan Hanigan, RHP Gerardo Reyes and LHP Jose Castillo from the Rays. The Rays receive outfielder Steven Souza and LHP Travis Ott from the Nats and catcher Rene Rivera, 1B Jake Bauers, and RHP Burch Smith from the Padres. And rounding out the trade, the Nats receive RHP Joe Ross and a Player to be named (reported to be SS  Trea Turner) from the Pods.

If the Padres 5-player deal with the Dodgers goes through, which will give them Matt Kemp, then the Pods will have strengthened their lineup with two big bats this off-season.
