The Colorado Rockies #11 Top Prospect, Trevor Story is quickly making a name for himself as he is enjoying a big league spring batting .280, with four home ruins, and eight RBI’s in 25 at bats, spanning ten games. The shortstop also has scored nine runs, while walking five times.

Story was signed by the Rockies in the 1st Round (45th overall) of the 2011 MLB Draft and in five minor league seasons, he has a .263 career batting average, with 151 doubles, 31 triples, 70 home runs, 284 RBI’s and 242 walks.

In 2015, he split time between AA and AAA and his stats were identical at both levels, with 256 at bats, 20 doubles, 10 home runs, while driving in 40 runs. In total he hit .279, with 40 doubles, 10 triples, 20 home runs, 80 RBI’s and 51 walks in 512 at bats.

This spring with the big club, the Texas native is being tabbed as a possible starter on opening day especially with Jose Reyes out on paid leave.

Reyes, brought over in the trade that sent Troy Tulowitzki to the Toronto Blue Jays last season, will face a domestic violence charge and a possible suspension from Major League Baseball, which has kept him off the field and given Story the chance of a lifetime to make his MLB debut on opening day.

The loss of Reyes may have stung the Rockies initially, but after what Story has done so far in spring, Colorado has found a suitable replacement for the 2016 season and beyond.
