The American League West has been all about the Houston Astros as every other team in their division have seemed to just give in, but not the Texas Rangers, as they climbed into first place on Tuesday with a walk-off 6-5 victory over the ‘Stros.

August was a good month for the Rangers as they finished 18-10, while also climbing into the pennant race, and now in September they are currently 9-5 and looking like a team that is soaring at the perfect time.

On Tuesday, the Rangers jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after posting a four-spot in the bottom of the first, highlighted by RBI singles from Prince Fielder, Adrian Beltre and Elvis Andrus.

The Astros would not be undone as they added three of their own runs in the top of the second, with RBI hits by Chris Carter and Hank Gonger and an RBI sac bunt by Jake Marisnick, scoring Jonathan Villar pulling within 4-3.

In the top of the fourth, the Astros took the lead after Evan Gattis hit a two-run single putting the ‘Stros in front 5-3.

In the bottom half of the inning, the Rangers came right back after Beltre hit a sharp double to left scoring Fielder to tie the game at 5-5. Then in the bottom of the ninth, the Rangers completed their long-awaited task, by taking over first place after Mitch Moreland hit a sac-fly to center scoring Drew Stubbs with the winning run.

The Rangers have won the first two games of their four-game series, and they look to add to their new lead as they face the Astros on Wednesday in Texas, with first pitch scheduled for 8:05 PM.
