The Toronto Blue Jays bats exploded for 11 runs in their Game 3 victory on Monday, but what was missing was the fact the Royals battled back and came within just three runs of tying the game.
Fast forward to Tuesday afternoon and Game 4 of the ALCS, the Royals started where they left off on Monday by scoring five runs in the first two frames, knocking out Blue Jays knuckleballer, R.A. Dickey after just 1.2 innings.
The Royals teed off on Dickey with homers from Ben Zobrist in the first and Alex Rios in the second to take a 5-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, the Blue Jays crawled back in the game with two runs on Josh Donaldson‘s ground rule double and a RBI by Jose Bautista on a ground out to pull within three runs at 5-2.
In the final three innings, the Royals scored a combined nine runs to blow the game open and win 14-2 and take a commanding 3-1 ALCS lead with one win away from returning to their second World Series in a row.
On Wednesday afternoon the Blue Jays will try to stay in the series as the Royals look to end it and advance to the World Series. First pitch scheduled for 4:00 pm.
