Savannah Manages Just One Hit In 12-0 Loss To Delmarva

Game one of the three game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Delmarva Shorebirds was played Tuesday evening at Grayson Stadium in front of  1,008 fans. The five-inning game was shortened by steady rain.

Delmarva bats were hot as they banged out 10  hits to win the first game of the series,  12-0.

Stating pitcher for the Shorebirds, Matthew Grimes (W,1-0), pitched a gem, tossing five shutout innings, allowed only one hit, walked one and struck out 11.

The second inning, Delmarva sent 13 batters to the plate and scored seven runs, on two hits, three walks, two hit batters, and three Savannah errors ( five errors for the game).

The Shorebirds added a run in the 3rd inning and four runs in the 5th inning.

Savannah could only muster one hit; a single by second baseman JC Rodriquez in the second inning.

Sand Gnat starter, Scarlyn Reyes,(L, 0-3) pitched 1.2 innings and gave up seven runs (one earned) on four hits.

Game two of the series starts at 7:05pm Wednesday at Grayson Stadium.
