Stone Crabs Jacob Faria Wins 8th, Team Wins Sixth Straight Game

On Thursday, the Charlotte Stone Crabs played game two of a four game series against the Brevard County Manatees and came away with a 3-2 victory to earn their sixth win in a row.

Charlotte leads the Florida State League South division with a 32-14 record and by 8.5 games over the second place Fort Myers Miracle.  The Stone Crabs are also the only team in the Florida State League to have a winning record at home (18-4) and on the road (14-10).

The Stone Crabs sent their Ace Jacob Faria to the mound to face the Manatees Brandon Woodruff, but Faria was too much for Brevard County to handle as he earned his eighth win on the season.

After three scoreless innings, the Stone Crabs scored first in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Pat Blair and a sac fly off the bat of Yoel Araujo. The Stone Crabs added their final run in the top of the eighth after Willy Adames doubled and scored on a one-out single by Jake Bauers.

Charlotte survived a late rally in the ninth, as closer Brad Schreiber gave up two runs on two hits, but induced a ground ball with the tying run on second to end the game and earn his 11th save on the season.
