The Detroit Tigers and left-handed starter David Price have both agreed to a record $19.75 million one-year deal to avoid arbitration as reported on Friday by MLB.com.
Price will be a free agent at the end of the 2015 season, and this contract is reported as the “highest for a player in an arbitration year.”
During the 2014 season, Price was 11-8 with the Tampa Bay Rays before being sent to Detroit in a three-team trade that also involved the Seattle Mariners and five players.
In 11 starts with the Tigers in 2014, Price finished 4-4 with a 3.59 ERA.
