Triple-A Playoffs Recap: RailRiders Take 2-0 Series Lead

Scranton/WB RailRiders 3, Gwinnett Braves 0

Pete Kozma homered and Chris Parmalee and Kyle Higashioka each drove in a run as Scranton/WB took down the Gwinnett Braves 3-0 to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.  The RailRiders were the beneficiary of good pitching by starter Brady Lail.  Lail went 6.1 innings without allowing a run giving up just three hits while striking out five.  Scranton’s bullpen was equally impressive picking up where Lail left off shutting down the Braves for good.  The RailRiders jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.  The Braves recorded just five hits but were 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.  Gwinett sent Tyrell Jenkins to the mound who won nine games in the regular season, but he couldn’t keep it together allowing all three Scranton runs.

Game four is scheduled for Friday night in Gwinnett.  It could mean the end of the road for the Braves unless they can put together some offense.  Scranton is sending Daniel Camarena (0-1, 6.00 ERA in the regular season) to the mound to face Gwinnett’s Rob Wooten (3-5, 3.58 in the regular season).  First pitch is slated for 7:05 at CoolRay Field in Gwinnett.
